NFP Compensation Consulting Conducts CEO Pay Analysis

As we delve into the results of the 2022 proxy season, NFPCC conducted an analysis for Dallas Morning News assessing the compensation packages for the top one-hundred Chief Executive Officers, based on company revenue, in the DFW area. This year’s Chief Executive Officer analysis identified four high-profile resignations including Doug Parker (American Airlines), Gary Kelly (Southwest Airlines), Ron Rittenmeyer (Tenet Healthcare), and George Sherman (GameStop).

NFPCC notes a few takeaways from the analysis:

  • CEO total pay packages saw an increased focus surrounding cash compensation due to fluctuations in stock prices. Both the percentage change of median annual incentives (49.1%) and median total cash compensation (34.4%) increased from 2021 to 2022, while long-term incentives remained steady (0.6%) compared to last year.
  • While there was turnover present across the market, some turnover was expected as a result of companies weathering through the COVID-19 pandemic. NFPCC expects healthcare, technology, and energy industries will continue to thrive in growth.
